Once upon a time, there was a man who was very helpful, kind hearted, and generous. He helped everyone without asking anything in return.
He enjoyed helping others.
One day while walking on a dusty road, this man saw a purse, so he picked it up and noticed that the purse was empty.
Suddenly a woman came with a policeman and got him arrested.
The woman kept on asking where did he hide her money but the man replied, “It was empty when I found it, Ma’am.”
The woman yelled at him, “Please give it back, it’s for my son’s school fees.”
The man realised that the woman was a single mother and that money was for her son’s school fees.
That man really felt sad, so he gave all his money to the woman and said, “Take these, sorry for the inconvenience.”
The woman left and the policeman held that man for further questioning.
The woman was very happy to see the money but when she counted her money later on, it was doubled. She was shocked, but she kept all the money without informing anyone.
Next week when the woman was going to pay her son’s school fees, she noticed that a man was walking behind her.
She thought that he may rob her, so she approached a policeman standing nearby. By chance he was the same policeman, whom she had taken along to inquire about her purse.
The woman told him about the man following her, but suddenly they saw that man had collapsed.
They ran towards him, and saw that he was the same man whom they had arrested a few days back for stealing the purse.
He was looking very fragile and weak.
The policeman informed the woman, “He wasn’t the thief. He didn’t steal your money, but on hearing that the money was for your son’s school fees, he felt sad and gave you his money.”
They helped the man to stand up and gave him some water and food. The man then said to the woman, “Please go ahead and pay your son’s school fees. I saw you were walking alone so I followed you to be sure that no one steals your son’s school fees.” The woman was speechless.
Life gives us strange experiences…sometimes it shocks us and sometimes it may surprise us. We end up making wrong judgments or mistakes due to our anger, desperation and frustration.
However, when we get a second chance, we should correct our mistakes and return the favour. Being kind and generous to everyone, and being grateful at every moment for whatever has been given to us, is what gives us real happiness in life.
Two of the most important qualities that make us human are the ability to sympathize and empathize with others who are suffering and the willingness to help them.

एक काळ असा होता की, एक माणूस खूप मदत करणारा, दयाळू आणि उदार स्वभावाचा होता. तो कोणालाही मदत करत असे आणि काहीही अपेक्षा करत नसत.
त्याला इतरांना मदत करणं खूप आवडत असे.
एक दिवस तो धुळीच्या रस्त्यावर चालत होता, तेव्हा त्याला एक पाकीट सापडले. त्याने ते उचलले आणि पाहिले की, पाकीट रिकामे आहे.
अचानक एक स्त्री पोलीसासह आली आणि त्याला अटक केली.
स्त्री सतत विचारत होती, “तुम्ही माझे पैसे कुठे लपवलेत?” पण माणूस म्हणाला, “मॅडम, जेव्हा मला हे सापडले तेव्हा ते रिकामे होते.”

तेव्हा माणसाला समजले की, ती स्त्री एक विधवा आहे आणि तीला पैसे तिच्या मुलाच्या शाळेच्या फी साठी हवे आहेत.

त्यांनी माणसाला उभे करायला मदत केली, त्याला पाणी आणि अन्न दिले. माणूस स्त्रीकडे पाहून म्हणाला, “कृपया जा आणि तुमच्या मुलाची फी भरा. मी पाहिले की तुम्ही एकटे चालत होतात, त्यामुळे मी तुमच्या मागे आलो, जेणेकरून कोणी तुमचे शाळेचे पैसे चोरी करू नये.”
स्त्री थक्क झाली.
जीवन आपल्याला अनेक आश्चर्यकारक अनुभव देते… कधी ते धक्का देतात, तर कधी आश्चर्यचकित करतात. आपला राग, निराशा आणि ताणामुळे आपण चुकीचे निर्णय घेतो किंवा चुका करतो.
परंतु, जेव्हा आपल्याला दुसरी संधी मिळते, तेव्हा आपल्याला आपली चूक सुधारावी आणि फायदाच परत द्यावा. प्रत्येकासाठी दयाळू आणि उदार असणे, आणि जे काही आपल्याला मिळाले त्याबद्दल नेहमी कृतज्ञ राहणे, हेच खऱ्या जीवनातील आनंद देते.
आपल्याला माणूस बनवणाऱ्या दोन महत्वाच्या गुणधर्म आहेत. दु:खी लोकांबद्दल सहानुभूती बाळगणे आणि मदत करण्याची तयारी ठेवणे.
